Father, though we have sinned against you and are not worthy, we humbly beseech you to deliver us from ourselves.
We have made you, your Son, and your Spirit in our image and likeness and not sought to know who you truly are.
We have prophesied in your name, and in your name driven out demons and performed many miracles, but we did not know you.
We repent of the numerous idols we have worshiped instead of you: ourselves; our desires; our beliefs; our rights; our freedoms; our prejudices; power; money; sex; fame; family; our nation.
We have blasphemed your name by using it to support our own agendas while claiming them to be yours.
We have not loved our neighbor as ourselves.
We have not followed Jesus’ example of leading others through self-sacrifice and service but have sought to lead others by Caesar’s example through force and coercion.
Forgive us for our pride, presumption and arrogance, both volitional and subconscious.
Father, give us the desire and the ability to seek you for your glory and not our own.
Help us to know your heart and to know your character, to worship and serve you in spirit and in truth.
Grant us discerning, pure and humble hearts in order to mold us into the true likeness of your Son.
May we serve you truly, Father, and know you more fully from this day on.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Advocate, we ask these things. Amen.
